Tarbaen
Tarbaen is disgraced priest. He pretends to be a protector of innocent children in the lower levels, but in reality, he's working for the nefarious group known as "The Red Sands." Tarbaen identifies valuable children and passes information about them to The Red Sands. The group then harms one of the children's family members, and Tarbaen manipulates them into joining The Red Sands under the guise of acquiring the necessary materials to heal their injured relative.
A former cobbler who now runs an orphanage sponsored by The Lost Brotherhood. He wears a patchwork robe, with balding hair and a world-weary look on his face. He was once a priest of the nature god, but was a part of a sect that was condemned for heresy. He fled to the lower city, where he could still do some good, and hide from the church's eyes.
Tarbaen is famously tight-lipped about his past, but cares for the children of the neighborhood. Because of his care, a few of them have survived long enough to make something of themselves. Those that do often ignore the plights of the Lower City, striving to forget their past. But a few have become mercenaries, merchants, and send Tarbaen what spare gold they can.
Tarbaen is eternally distant. Sad, even. He cares with an almost resigned air, and doesn’t get personally attached to many kids if he can help it. Despite this, most of the urchins in the lower city look up to him- often coming to him with advice and worries. Carrow is no different.
